- I believe she is interested in a way of doing content filtering that is within the budget of the school

- Served as a sounding board for Patrick during his troubleshooting of the wireless router. Determined that further testing is required.

Thursday March 29, 2007
- Continued research of JHDocuments folder at '\\tmasrv01\Shared\JHDocuments\' on Computer 2
- jhlab access
- Access from My Computers by clicking on initial subfolders denied
- Access typing '\\tmasrv01\Shared\' is denied
- Access from the JHDocuments folder by clicking the Up link is denied
- Synchronize Problem
- When the JHDocuments folder is accessed, the Synchronize message appears
- "The folder in online, but out of date"
- Clicking the Synchronize button an error about a bad parameter at \\tmasrv01\jhlab$\
- Error also appeared after logging out of 'administrator' account on Computer 2
- However, after saving a new copy, correctly updated file appears on Computer 3 with no sign of corruption or error
- Potential Future Work
- Mapping a Network Drive accessible from My Computer (further information from Microsoft)
- Cleaning up other links viewable but denied from My Computer (accmath, cc40, accread, users\jhlab)
- Creating unique folders for each student
- Teaching the students via a tutorial

- Updated the clocks on all computers

- Worked with Patrick attempting to configure wireless
- Configured router configurations from his laptop while has was working in server closet
- Able to appear visible to server, establish a reservation, but router DHCP did not seem to work
Thursday April 12, 2007
- Final touches on network folder JHDocuments
- Obtained class roster and made a subfolder for each person
- Created desktop shortcut, replaced 'My Documents' shortcut
- Tutorial
- Introduced students to concepts
- Enforced permissions, access to this folder only
- Stressed importance of not saving to desktop or My Documents folder

- Connected to the Wiki via our new router at the school!

Thursday April 19, 2007
- Taught the second group of students about the JHDocuments shared folder
- Tutorial was well received, some students had already learned of the folder from teachers or other students
- Learned of new problems inside the science room
- Only 1 computer is connected to the Internet
- Worked with the Cisco 802 router present, but was unfamiliar with its operation
- A project for next week's work

- Worked one more time on the wireless connection
- The router now "works too well"
- Broadcasts a DHCP signal not only to laptops, but back to the server and to computers already connected in the JH room
- Possible fix includes setting up a VLAN, which requires more research
